  •  HTML / XHTML Tutorial - NOW on line by invitation

XHTML is the basic code driving the WWW. All web pages use at least some XHTML. The use of web design packages such as Dreamweaver will allow you to publish a web site but there are occasions where you need to know some XHTML either because the package you are using has some limitations or you wish to insert some free code you found on the web. This tutorial will teach you how to perform these tasks and will strictly comply to the XHTML standards set by the W3C.

  •  CSS Tutorial - on line soon

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) allow a web designer a lot more flexibility then HTM / XHTML. With CSSs you will be able to make your web pages look exciting. The W3C CSS specification replace and extent a number of HTML / XHTML features. Up to date web design makes the use of CSSs essential. It goes without saying that our tutorial will comply with the W3C standards.

  •  Javascript Tutorial - on line soon

Java scripting allows a web designer to make web pages come alive and assist users to interact with web sites. Javascript it the choice for web designers who do not have access to or do not wish to use server site scripting. The difficulty with java scripting is that not all web browsers support the same features of java script. Web browser manufactures appear to add features to java script that will make it incompatible with other web browsers. This tutorial attempts to use features of java script that work with most web browsers.

  •  XML Tutorial - on line soon

While HTML / XHTML and CSSs will make your web site look good and Javascripting will enhance the way users interact with web pages XML is a way to present data to users. XML is now widely supported and most new web browser software is able to parse (work with) XML. If you intend to do some serious web development including the display of data you will need to use XML sooner rather then later.

  •  PHP Tutorial - on line soon

With PHP a web designer will be able to support server site scripting. PHP is much more secure then Javascripting and adds functionality. While PHP may be used without the use of a web server the point of PHP is to add fuctions to a web site that could not be achieved with other tools. Other major scripting language is perl and ASP. While perl like PHP is open source and therefore available to everyone ASP is a Microsoft proprietory language that may replace perl or PHP on a Microsoft web server. However Microsoft web servers are not as popular as other web servers like Apache.

  •  SQL Tutorial - on line soon

Once a web designer starts dealing with data a space is needed to store all the data used on a web site. There are several applications available to do this. However most of these applications have a the query language SQL in common. Thus if you are serious about using data on a web site SQL knowledge will be indispensible.
